Interesting Links

This is the home page for the organization.  It has a dojo directory organized by state, historical information, and news groups for SKA members.

This link has video of individuals performing Shotokan kata including Funakoshi.

This is the home page for Kansas City Shotokan.  The provides background on Shotokan, as well as Dojo location, and class schedule.  We recommend taking a peek at their Books and Tapes page.  Their tape description pages include excerpts from the videos including one of Mr. Ohshima doing Hangetsu at the 1976 SKA 20th anniversary.  Mike Lyons has also placed some additional video files containing torite exercises, Mr. Funakoshi doing Tekki Kata and more in the SKA section of Yahoo Groups.

This page has some great articles by Mr. Ohshima, Tom Muzila, Genshin Hironishi, and Shigeru Egami.

This site has some great Shotokan resources, and information.  It came highly recommended from two of our members.

The USFKC has the Shotokan Katas available as MPEG videos that you can view in your Windows Media Player.

This site has book reviews for the books listed in our recommended reading list, as well as links to various martial arts sites.

The site is the home site of Patrick McCarthy.  He is the author of several books about Okinawan Karate-do.  This site contains history about Okinawa Karate.  Patrick lists a new translation of a collection of early writings on Karate-do, including articles by Gichin Funakoshi.  He also claims to have translated the sections of the Kyohan that Mr. Ohshima left in Kanji.
